Yo, my name is Vonte and I’m an artist from Louisville, KY. Born in Charleston, South Carolina. All my life I’ve been stuck in poverty but my whole family (grandparents, mother, siblings) have lived together to help us get by. I’ve had my fair share of obstacles to overcome with losing my brother and a lot of my closest friends, being stereotyped, and incarceration at a young age. I was always looked at as the weird kid because I stuck to myself and stayed quiet but thats just how it was where I was from. You stay out the way and you wont have any problems.
Do you have any tips for artists?
Not everyone is going to like your music. If you really have a love for it you got to keep going the more you keep pushing the better you’ll get at it. And promote. Promoting is just as important as making the music if not more important.
How long have you been making music?
I’ve been singing my whole life. Music has always been my passion. I started off doing choir early and then band too and I recorded my first songs at 14 (you won’t find them). And I just started releasing music a little over a month ago.
What are your music goals?
I want to build my image to make it easier to come out of my city. Most of the artists you see from Louisville moved out of the city to make music because you really just can’t get anywhere here.
Who or what inspires you to create music?
My family and my girl. I just want to give them a better life they’ve been through a lot. They deserve it
